Natural Herbal Skincare And Beauty Skin Care Secrets

Whilst skin care has been carried out for millennia, the people then did not have the choice of herbal or synthetic products. This is the reason skin care has transformed in a big way and herbal skin care routines have been replaced by synthetic or chemical based skin care routines. Today probably only a fraction of the herbal formulas still exist and many people have never even used a natural product.

There are a number of reasons why we have gradually turned our backs on natural skin care products but probably the biggest is the huge commercial market which herbal preparations could never keep up with. The problem becomes worse when you realize the commercialism involved with the manufacture of herbal products by large companies that have to add preservatives to make them last longer which obviously reduces their effectiveness.

The true natural, herbal market is not dead though and a growing number of traditionalists have started up herbal skin care production to feed the desire of many people to have real, natural products. But still, as no-one wants to make them at home, the commercial market of herbal skin care products is on the rise but what are these herbs or herbal skin care mechanisms?

Although one of the more common herbal products, aloe vera has other properties other than just helping sunburn; extracted fro the aloe plant it also hydrates skin and can be sued on cuts as well. The cleansing properties of herbs like dandelion, chamomile, lime flowers and rosemary are often only activated when they are mixed with other herbs; tea is a good example of this.

You may not know about the herbal antiseptic qualities of other herbs like lavender, marigold, thyme and fennel and the use of lavender water and rose water have been known to have skin toning properties for a very long time. Even tea can be used to help treat skin that has been damaged by to much uv radiation when formulated into a herbal skin care product.

Many herbal products contain oils taken from the plants themselves in diluted and undiluted for like tea tree, primrose and lavender oils. Bananas, apple and melon have hydration properties and are very good for the skin, which is why so many manufacturers use them in bath and shower gels etc.

There are very few if any adverse reactions to herbal skin preparations which is why they are often preferred over commercially available synthetically produced products and some people still make them at home. If you can afford it then genuine herbal skin care products are the way to go but you will find there are occasions when only synthetic products which have been clinically tested will do.

We all need to look after our skin by whatever means we can as it is the main barrier against disease and takes a great deal of punishment in the modern climate we all live in.
